Razor bumps are one of the most common complications in shaving most especially with men. Medically known as pseudifolliculitis barbate, this is actually an ingrown hair which could totally bring forth irritating pain and utmost discomfort. Such condition could cause pimples and worse scar formation which will be most likely located on the face.
A mild rash may be seen right after shaving and may remain either hours or days depending on the severity of the skin irritation. If not properly intervened, this may become infected or might cause more complication. Often red in color most likely similar to that of a rash which could be very itchy making one unproductive with his work.
Such condition is said to occur when one applies too much pressure while shaving. Using a blunt and dirty blade could be a great factor as well. Improper lubrication upon shaving can result into this condition. Blunt razors will actually separate the hair to the shaft hence making it curl inside the skin follicles triggering pustules or pimples.
To be able to prevent such condition, one is encouraged to use a great quality shave and make sure that the blades are sharp enough. More so, always apply a shaving cream before one starts to shave or better yet let the cream sit on one's face for a few minutes before starting to shave. If one thinks of the cream as too costly one can always use a soap just to lubricate the skin.
It may also be suggested to apply the face with a cloth soaked on warm water, this way the skin pores will open thus facilitating an easy shaving experience. Avoid stretching one's skin as this will increase the chances of the hair to curl in to the pores. More so, do not shave against the direction of one's hair and take time to soften the hair before starting to shave.
If one is prone in developing such condition it is best not to shave every day. Give it a two or three days rest before grooming again. Change the blade on one's shave at least every week as dull blades are one of the main reasons for this condition. It may be better to choose the traditional blades rather than those trendy ones.
For one to get rid of it, there are home remedies which proved to be effective. To start with, one can apply an apple cider vinegar on the affected area. An aloe Vera gel will also be a great remedy to ease the irritation. To avoid infection, one is encouraged to apply iodine or tea tree oil on the affected area. Never squeeze the bump, as this will only make it worse.
Witch hazel is also a great remedy to prevent infection. These may be some great and affordable remedies, however it is better to prevent for such condition to happen. One can almost get a rather worse type than the other, which is why it is important for one to be more careful in shaving and take time to lubricate or open the skin pores before shaving.
Razor bumps are not only unsightly, but these are also very uncomfortable and annoying. To prevent having one, see to it that one will be able to perform the necessary precaution. If however one will still be able to have it despite precautionary measures, be guided on the suggested remedies most of it are found at home thus there's entirely no need for one to spend a lot.
